Ragnar Jonasson is an Icelandic mystery and thriller writer whose work is deeply rooted in his native landscape and legal background. Drawing on his experience as both a lawyer and former journalist for Iceland's national broadcaster, he crafts atmospheric crime narratives across multiple series including the Dark Iceland and Hidden Iceland sequences. A longtime admirer of classic detective fiction who translated numerous Agatha Christie novels into Icelandic, Jonasson co-founded the Iceland Noir crime writing festival and continues to teach copyright law at Reykjavik University while maintaining an active writing career since 2010.
