Why this site exists
Every reader who discovers a new series faces the same question: what order do I read these books in? Publication order and chronological order often differ, prequels muddy the waters, and some authors weave a dozen series into one shared universe. Reading Order List exists to answer that question quickly and reliably — for every author, not just the famous ones.
What we cover
The site currently tracks more than 676,000 books by 18,000+ authors, organised into 26,000+ series — with reading orders, series status (ongoing or complete), publication years, and guidance on where to start. The catalog updates automatically every day: new releases are added, series statuses refreshed, and changed pages republished, so reading orders stay current as new books come out.
Who runs it
Reading Order List is an independent project built and maintained by a software developer and lifelong series reader based in Europe. It is not owned by a publisher, retailer, or media company. Data accuracy questions and corrections land directly with the person who can fix them — see our methodology page for how the data is built and how to report an error.
How the site is funded
The site is free to use and funded by advertising and affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases made through links on the site, and display advertising is managed by Journey by Mediavine.
